I had a life changing moment watching the mama dog this
week. 🧐 She walked into the pen, and immediately the
puppies were screaming for her attention.
They immediately latched on to her dangling mammaries,
using lock jaw grip as they hovered above the ground. 😳
The chaos was incredible as the mama dog wouldn’t sit
down because she was focused on cleaning up the poo that lay scattered on the
floor. As the puppies yelped and scrambled,
the mama calmly went about her job with the utmost serenity. We had already fed them, so somehow she knew
that this was not her job, just a distraction to what was important. She’d sit for a moment, and the little carnivores would
clamber on, then as they clawed uncontrollably, she would stand again and go
about her work.
Now, I don’t know about you, but if I had twelve little
mammals screaming and biting at me in a confined space, very quickly I would
lose my 🚢- but mama dog was as calm as a Buddhist monk
on a mountain top. No anger, no stress, she was just doing the work she needed
to do at that time. Poo patrol.
This zen moment amidst furry chaos made me think. Is
stress the actual work we need to do, or is it the emotion that surrounds how we
‘feel’ about doing it?
After being inspired by my 30kg canine, I’ve been trying
this technique for a few days. Don’t
think about the jobs, just get them done.
And I tell you with utmost sincerity; it works. 🥰
This week, can you ignore the whining ‘puppies’ in the
brain, and just concentrate on the task at hand? I know, this is my new homework for
life. 🥳#zendog
