Adaptability

Adaptability 🧐. My husband was due for shoulder surgery yesterday. We had rearranged the next six weeks for recovery and did a two hour return trip to the hospital. Just as I got home, my husband called, “they’ve postponed my surgery for a month due to my mountain biking graze”. So it was another two hour return trip to collect him. 🤦‍♀️

And I must admit, I was a little kissed off 😜. Not for the event, but because of all the other ‘stuff’ that had been shuffled that now had to be reshuffled and then shuffled again in a month’s time.

🧠 The first thought was “It is what it is”. Acceptance. (Thanks Echart Tolle).
🧠 The next thought was “what are the positives about the roadblock?” Reframe. (thanks Tony Robbins)
🧠 The final thought is “now what” (thanks Dr Amen).

Life is always going to happen. And sometimes it doesn’t work out how we plan. Yet if we can accept, reframe and then take action from WHERE WE ARE, we can avoid getting stuck for too long in emotional resistance.

Life lesson: Adaptability is a process of acceptance, reframing and taking action.

Keep shining x
