Gratitude
Gratitude
. When I was healing from concussion, I didn’t feel a lot of it. I was constantly looking at what I’d lost, and to be honest I was in the darkest mire of my soul for many months. One of the game changers for me was simply writing down three small things I was grateful for every night.

Psychologist Noelle Nelson and Dr. Daniel Amen conducted a brain scan study on appreciation and gratitude. 30 minutes prior to the first scan, Noelle meditated on things she was thankful for and her brain looked very healthy after this “appreciation meditation.”
Several days later, Noelle was scanned after focusing on her major fears and it showed lack of blood flow to areas of the brain. Lack of blood flow equals lack of function.
So the daily gratitude practice isn’t just a new age concept, it has a physical impact not only our psychology, but our physiology, and it helped me to climb out of depression.
Life lesson: an attitude of gratitude transforms mental health
